Whenever I rotate the bone, it doesn’t rotate the pointer, it rotates the middle finger, and the bone doesn’t stay in the finger.
hmmmm did you apply the armature correctly? Also on Fred what are the modifiers on him right now and what order? Do you have a screenshot of that? Also check the weight paint of the groups and bones that you made to see how it’s setup.
Cj just go to your modifiers, delete the armature modifier, then go to your vertex groups and delete ALL of them. Now go to fred, and just incase there are normal problems in edit mode select everything hit ALT+N and recalculate to outside. Then the main issue is you have double verts. so with everything still selected right click, merge vertices by distance to remove the doubles. Then just select Fred and shift select armature and CTRL+P parent with automatic weights
The thumb bone you have to rotate it separtely from the others as it rotates in a different direction. Just select it and hit R to rotate and then rotate it around the axis

Not sure why you would want to. To my knowledge your only option is to select the faces you want to change and search “flip normals”. I looked at the file and didn’t see anything wrong.
