Blender LIVE Hour of Power Challenge #14

Blender LIVE Hour of Power Challenge!

Hello Blendermaniacs! We just had a VERY successful Hour of Power Challenge! So here’s to more!

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BUY OR PURCHASE OR SIGNUP FOR ZOOM

Read the guidelines HERE: https://www.blendermania3d.com/groups/blender-live-hour-of-power-challenge/forum/topic/hour-of-power-guidelines-rules-explanations/

Go ahead and comment if you want to be a part of it! The ones who just participated can comment as well however if there are people who didn’t do it last week, they will take the spot of the people who did do it last week. But go ahead and anyone comment! Even if you did it already as people may drop out etc.

What is it? 10 participants will be Blending for an hour to create the best piece of work within that hour…all on LIVE screen sharing!

How does it work? 10 participants will sign up during the week to take part in this. Then on a designated day (for now we will do saturday 7/4/20 at 12 PST) the 10 participants will join the meeting (we will be using Zoom) and there all 8 participants will share their screen (you can also share your video and audio so you can talk but it’s not required. You COULD JUST share the screen and that’s fine so no one sees or hears you) I will then give the theme RIGHT there on the spot. You will then have 10 minutes to think of what you want to make, gather reference images etc. AFTER the 10 minutes, the challenge will start and you have 1 hour to create a render based on the given theme! Once the hour is up, I will tell everyone to hit the render image button and everyone will render out their image. We will then vote for the best render and winner will get points, Certificate and Badge. This is for ANY level! It’s for fun, non judgemental environment! So even if you are bran new, enter! ?

Can I still watch even if I don’t participate? Absolutely! If you don’t want to be one of the 10 participating in this, you can join the livestream and just watch these awesome Blendermaniacs do Blender and chat! I encourage anyone and everyone to join even if you are not participating! This will create an awesome group dynamic for an hour of us all getting together and having fun in Blender! Bring some popcorn and watch others do some awesome Blender, maybe you’ll learn a thing or two!

The first 10 people to comment below “I want do participate” or something of the like will be picked for this coming Blender Hour of Power Challenge.

**THIS IS FOR FUN! DON’T BE SCARED IF YOU THINK YOU ARE A BEGINNER OR NOT THAT GOOD. THE WHOLE POINT OF THIS IS TO HAVE FUN AND PRACTICE IN AN INTERACTIVE WAY. SIGNUP EVEN IF YOU ARE BRAND NEW! ? **

Do I even need to post!?

Unless the unforeseeable happens (which is always a possibility with me), I’m in! Drifting into the HoP!

Ill do it again as well

You guys know that i’m going to join rofl!

Yes sir!

Count me !

Participants today are @eladd @DriftingEmbers @tlhman @blenderbadboy @YorvinLunaWisky @ritik !

The rest of us will hangout and view! If anyone wants to join in last minute, just lmk! Let’s have fun!

Theme “America”. Found a nice derelict building. Made the building. UV Projected texture onto model. Did something different and made my own grass and used particle system. Added volumetric volume to give the fog but I think it made it too dark. Only thing I wish I had found a higher quality image.

HoP theme “America”, I call it simply, “Icons of Freedom”.

NASA space station buildings with no windows !

Theme: America, Been wanting to do fireworks for a long time

Flag!!!

Without the volumetrics

“tHE AMERICAN WAY” i HOPE IM UPLOADING TO THE RIGHT FORUM

Here’s my meagre offering. Great fun but there’s more adrenalin flowing through me than when I played in a band! It’s good to participate though. Great crowd!

I don’t know what you were worried about. This a good scene. You can tell it a city! That’s all that matters!

Nice! My first thought was a large vehicle! but I did one last week so figured I needed to do something different.

Sorry if I threw you off mentioning using a bump node for the HoP on a color image. This is what I meant by taking a color image and making it into a semi usable bump map. Plugging in the texture image into a (Converter>RGB to BW node) then plugging that BW node output to the height of a Vector>Bump node height then from that to the normal of the BDSF shader.

Apparently I’m starting a new company with lime green taxis! lol. Thanks for the kind words. Would you believe I dreamed about vertices last night, really! I was going over what I could have done better/instead!

It was great fun to participate because I had no idea how well or otherwise I’d do (in just an hour - give me weeks and I’ll make something cool lol), and to anyone reading this, none of us are born knowing how to do these things! It comes with practice. I’m not content with what I did only because I think I can do better, but what you see is where I’m at and that’s the fact of it.

I’ll be joining in the Hour of Stress… errrr… Power, a lot more from now on because the challenge was actually fun, and apart from that it’s really good for inspiring the creativity juices and finding out what I thought I knew but didn’t!

If I end up with just a cube one week it won’t be from lack of trying lol. It’s great to be a BlenderManiac!
