how do you manage to make cars? I seem to have two left hands
I see the Annual Car modelling compeition up and going again.
I have been considering creating a particular car for sometime and maybe perfect for this competition. Going to create the car that got away…I miss that car…
If I start, I will have to WIP it also…
https://3dmodels.org/car-challenge-2024/
Nice start on your red rocket there…
Nice! It looks familiar but can’t place my hands on it. What kind of car is it?
@blendermania its hopefully going to be a 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO
Cars dont really have nice curves any more like these old classics
They do not, thats for sure. I would love to see one of these cars in person. Probably will never happen but one can dream. Nothing like a V-12 engine screaming “open me up”
Got the rim done ( other than final texturing ) nothing really done with the car got a headlight in it and some taillights a rear window. Also started laying out the rest of the environment that I am going to be putting it in.
I lika the wheel, very cool
Thanks, Just feels good being able to blend a little bit more, even if I am on my slower i7 3060 rig.
Chop shop time. Then I can do some more tweaking verts before extruding the body thickness. Still have the front lower side lights to shape out as well. But so far so good.
Okay I am done for the night and might take tomorrow off. Started getting brain dead and almost killed a good chunk of progress.
That looks so sick!
Added in the headlight lens adjusted and tweaked some more verts, and getting close to separating cut out parts of the car. Also adjusted the tires and still got to add the sidewall texture to them as well. Then scrapped the original racetrack layout for a similar look but at a view that will show more of the car and not just a top down style shot. Still going to have the rundown racetrack and all though. Hope no more hurricanes or bad weather spells come in, so I can really get cracking on this and not rely on the pc I am using right now not to meltdown on me when I get to adding in the environment. Would be nice to use the 4090pc for that when it comes time. ( Fingers Crossed)
An autoshop render with some of the tweaks done to it and a few additions.
This is the new update on what the environment and camera position is going to be.
In garage looks awesome but in the scene looks out of proportion? I recon camera not quite right.
There is no sense of scale to the environment yet nor a proper depth of field nor a mist pass to the render. Once the environment pieces start going in then it will give more scale reference. Once the little rocks and dirt along with textures and a few abandoned racing trailers. Scale and distance will start to be noticed. I guess I will stop posting updates till things are nearly done from now on. Thanks for the input. Won’t happen again.
I think it just your camera FOV. Even though camera different angle the camera maybe different and so car looks longer.
Not worried about the scene background. That work in progress and to be expected
Did not explain my observation properly.
Nowhere near finished. But it is slowly coming together. Few more environmental things to add in before moving back to the car chopping up phases aka (dropping mirror modifier). Figured the track in the background would have been a little distracting to the scene so I am still going with an overlooking view but in a way that the car is more of a focal point.
Also @eladd my apologies about the camera thing, I found out what it was. I had two cameras in my scene. One for the car in the shop, and one for the cliffside overlook. I forgot to switch them as they did have different focal lengths to them.
No post work or anything done to this, as this is just a progress shot for the challenge. Still plenty more to be done.
Looking sick so far!
