I love the style it’s like paper craft, like you modeled them from carton boxes or something, it’s quite interesting and unlike most 3D artworks. It stand out in a good way
Morgan Freeman: “It was at this moment he knew he f@#$*d up”
lol!
No Weks this isn’t half submission it’s the equivalent of telling your teacher “my dog ate my homework” hahahah xD
Kidding man this is an interesting take on it!
cool
I like it a lot!
“Cubic Dessert”
Rendered with Cycles, using procedural textures + texture painting in Blender and GIMP, HDRI and sun lamps for BG/lighting.
For those who don’t know yet, this kind of watermelon does exist. Also, it is eaten like the normal ones do, so here I guess you have to use some tools to eat the red part, but if someone insists on eating the outer skin too then it’s up to them…
Dang Po! This looks mouth watering and delicious! Square and ORGANIC TOO!? Seems too good to be true…lol! But yeah great job on this man. And all with procedurals…impressive!
Well, at least that’s what the marketing team told me, lol… Thanks, just don’t zoom in, as it’s not that ‘delicious’ in close up
Doh…wrong reply…
So your previous post was a grainy render now you post this photo. CHEAT CHEAT
One might say this is a slice of heaven?! Can I have mine cut in triangles with no crust. Cheers.
This is a very strange potato Po… but I like it!!
Also no greeble… 0/10 wouldn’t eat this potato again xD
Kidding man it’s incredible! I’m trying to make a watermelon too for one of my characters but I struggle a bit with the nodes, you should give me some tips after the WC!!
I really do want some watermelon now…
It’s a square green potato, LOL!
For the green outer skin texture I only used wave texture and esp. play with the distortion, detail and detail scale settings. Might need to plug in mapping node too to adjust the pattern direction/rotation. Looking forward to seeing your entry!
This making me drool…licking the screen doesn’t help…
Would like to share some simple material setup in my fruit weekly challenge entry as requested by someone particularly on the skin and inner part of the watermelon.
The skin material (first image) is mainly using wave texture for the colours, while noise texture is for the roughness (might only subtly seen here, just to make it doesn’t entirely look shiny on all the surface). Note that on the rightmost side/face in the image, the texture colour (the darker strips direction) is not correct (should be ended clumped in the center), but in this case it doesn’t matter because that face will not be shown since the fruit object is cut open in the middle.
The inner part (second image) relies on the texture, which is using texture painting and later detailed in GIMP. The texture colours are just black and white so that I can control the actual/final colours easily using the colour ramps. Also as you can see in the UV map, the face is an n-gon (polygon with > 4 sides/edges), which is generally not a favorable type of mesh, but I ignored that as the surface is totally flat here and to speed up the making. The second part of the texture which is using wave textures actually doesn’t look too satisfying, so won’t be talking too much on that, lol.
Anyway, hope you all enjoy this small info.
“Someone” thanks you Po This is very useful thank you so much for sharing, I’ll try this myself and play around with it first chance I get
Look so simple. Thanks for sharing.
Awesome for sharing man! Now I can make a watermelon car
Definitely more simple set than I expected.
