Texture Paint and UV Unwrapping Issue

Hi all,

Need help regarding Texture paint.
I been spending time trying to go through a course I bought from Udemy (The Ultimate Sculpting), I am in the part on where I need to paint the scales of the Hybrid Cubone. So I was painting, and I noticed that every time I paint a scale another part of the monster is getting painted. I checked the settings, there was no mirror modifier and the symmetry XYZ are also off.

I tried to search why this is happening, the answer that I got is due to the way I have done the UVs.

  • I tried to see if I would be able to move the islands but I cant anymore because it is already in PNG file.

  • Another way I did is to go back to the the UVs, and I noticed that there is part that were not detached from the rest (see image).

I went to EDIT mode to check the seams, I saw that there is a line that is missing (see image).

I tried to fix it by adding a seam.

After that, I UV unwrap it again, and that’s when the horror began. I have now two sets of Islands.

Can somebody give me hope, is there a fix for this? Is there a work around? What step I need to do to fix this?

This is my second time to fall into Texture Paint pitfall.

  • First was losing all my paint. I’m hitting CTRL+S to save, but the texture paint have its own world. I was not aware that I need to save it separately.
  • Second is this issue your reading now. If your UV sucks, your texture paint is doomed (if there is a way to fix this, please help me out here).

Thank you in advance.
