Secret Mountain Animation

Hello,

I have applied what I learnt in the Udemy courses and made my own animation.

It was a challenge getting the dynamite explosion working correctly, however I am happy with how it turned out in the end.

For the crystals, I put a light inside them using the geometry nodes setup instead of making the material emissive as I like the look of the light coming from inside the crystal instead of from the surface.

Awsome video!Alien at the end! how did you make the fireburning on the dynamite at the start

Thank you,

The setup for the dynamite, especially the sparks going along the curve was quite difficult to get working. Part of the challenge is that the particle system in Blender wont work if you bring it in as an object via geometry nodes.

It uses geometry nodes to position an object (spark ignition line) along a Bezier curve which follows the mesh. Using geometry nodes I can animate an invisible object (single vertex spark position) so it goes along the Bezier curve.

There’s also a delete geometry node setup on the spark ignition line object so it disappears as the invisible spark position object moves along it.

To get the sparks there’s an emitter object which has a constraint to make it copy the position of the invisible spark position object. This emitter object has a particle effect for the sparks.

It’s a bit complex to explain and possibly not the cleanest setup, but I’m happy I got it working in the end!

cna i see your geometery nodes setup?

Here it is.

The first one positions the object along the curve. The second deletes the geometry as it moves. Please note that it’s not super clean and there is some stuff in there I originally thought I would need (like the export of vert_position attribute) that ended up being unused.
