Question about how to download Blender but keep older versions

Hi. Haven’t been here for a while. Was wondering how to download Blender 4.1 but still keep the older versions I use in my computer. I haven’t played with Blender for a good while but just seen there was a tutorial on hair using 4.1.

You can try download the standalone / portable version (I think it’s usually in .zip format). Once unzipped, you can launch the respective Blender version directly (blender.exe) without installing. The Blender project files will still open by default with your installed version, and if you want to open a file with the portable version you have to open it from the portable version.

For example, I use v.4 as the installed version, but have v.5 as portable. If I open a Blender project file directly (.blend), it will always be opened with v.4. If I want to open a file with v.5, then I have to open Blender v.5 first (the blender.exe file in the unzipped folder) then open that file from it.

Hope this helps. :slightly_smiling_face:
