Hey my friend I don’t see a render?
@blendermania you are right, because there isnt one yet. It was part of the contest requirement in order to get access to the free starter car download. I guess its more to see if it us a legit entrant and not just someone wanting to download a car with no interest in participating in the contest.
This is the original vehicle we are being provided to modify for the contest
Start of modifications and blocking out
Screenshot
Changed up the thruster design and placement, added the rear antennas, windshield louvers, and the front brush guard.
Screenshot
Not much progress, added spiked rollers on the brush guard and changed up the rocket launcher a bit. I do hate stormy season.
Screenshot
Storms let up so I was able to fix some things, namely the spiked rollers and how they would function vs the way I originally had the brush guard. This way the rollers will bounce and move without tearing the whole front of the vehicle off. Also I tossed the blocky engine and just went with an intake shaker scoop for the hood. The thruster wheels were tossed for more of an “elegant” design and one that will serve dual purposes as the outside of it will have a rotating tire tread and the center has the thruster. I have some additional side window louvers and a vent hose hookup for the rear side window, but those are on the other PC that I was using while the storms were going these past few days.

WOW That looks awesome man!!.
Thanks, I guess I can now get started on the environment to prevent burnout.
Started on the base portion of the environment, going to add in some abandoned buildings in the backgound and some random rocks and dead plant life to help fill in a bit of the area and eventually the final addition will be a few smoke/sand simulations.
Not much for a screenshot, will hold off on these till more of the environment elements gets added.
Dang looking sick!
Thanks, slow going but got plenty of time still so it is what it is.
Little more done to the environment portion, and also cropped and scaled the image still have things to add to the car and environment but it’s 1am and 7am comes early, hopefully no storms tomorrow so I can get more done. Also these renders are not color graded which will happen once the modeling is finished. And yes Alex the car on the billboard is my Lambo render.
Ditched the glowy wheel engine look and went with a smoke simulation baked to a vdb also added a few background things, a swing and a dead tree. Oh and I kind of found a bug I guess with motion blur and vdb and volume rendering. It doesn’t like it, so the final stage I will be rendering out in layers so I can have the motion blur and the smoke volumes ( plus I will be able to tweak them separately )
Well at least I have time on this contest, however the other one probably not so much. Show up for one Jury Duty now you are in their pocket ![]()
Bring your laptop in to the jury and finish from there! Car is looking sick man. Nicely done. Happy site anniversary today!
LOL thanks, only problem is I don’t have a laptop anymore. I gave the two I had away. Besides they were about one simulation away from exploding anyway. I should have plenty of time though to finish this. Working on another challenge too so fun times.
Changed up the car coloring, still have to add grunge to some areas and add in some additional body elements to the car. Added a few simulations converted to vdb as well ( have some additional smoke sims to do for a few of the buildings ) Still tweaking the environment lighting as well. But figured I should post some kind of update. I also did a clay render just because.
