Long Sword

Decided to start my practice from sword after long break. Let’s see how good this sword will be?

This is really cool. I can see a nice blend of skills here and would make a great learning curve. I may actually attempt to create my own version of this.

Today was working on UV of sword elements. Don’t like UV… It’s not ideal, but it is exist!
I used the test UV example in blender for cheking issues. After UV of elements will be finished I’ll try to make some realistic textures for each element.

Thank you! The campfire is not my model… took it from cg trader for free for scene. I like the result, but it could be better. Also want to rework textures and make a lowpoly version. In next month will be learning zbrush and trying to mix knowledges from blender).

That is one nice skinwrap leather around the handle. Did you work with curve modifier?

Thanks! No, I just started from circle, then form first leather circle with solidify modifier. After that I have added array modifier. And a little sculpt after all)

That is such a solid solution. I’ve tried to work on it using a different workflow:

Using shrink wrap modifier aka using retopology concept.

But fail miserably.

Nah… HAve a problem with ambient oclusion map. After baking one of the leather ring become black. And it’s not changing… :smiling_face_with_tear: Now don’t know what to do. Maybe someone can help me with this?

The problem was solved only by deleting the upper leather ring).
So low poly model was retextured. I think I could finish this one now. I’m not satrified with all results, but need to move on. The next sword will be better I think…
