Go Go Power Rangers!

I’ve done it.

I’ve actually done it.

Within one month’s time…

It is here.

Caught a rigging error. Here’s the new pic.

Wow Drift this is awesome, congrats on finishing up! Are you going to animate it?

I sure intend to! I need to made an additional cannon model to stick on the Mastodon for Tank Mode, but I do intend to make the Zords combine into Megazord on video and make it as close to the show as I can! If in future I also make a monster, I’ll have Megazord battle it!

Then again, I could have a test video of Megazord VS Wood Dragon…

Well done! hard work paid off…

Now I gotta make him transform and FIGHT SOMETHING!

Welp, time to give the Megazord a real fighting chance - Power Sword in the making! Thing about symmetrical weapons is that you usually can get away with doing just a quarter, as they’re the same left/right and front/back. Mirror modifier to the rescue!

Almost done! Just needs some fine detailing.

Complete!

Evil’s gonna get it now!

The Cannons for the Tank Mode have been complete and added to the Megazord!

Fun Fact, the Megazord’s Battle Mode also has these cannons. However, they’re never fired off for whatever reason. They’re on its back, attached to the Mastodon’s front feet. How they get there, I don’t know, considering they’re on the Mastodon’s BACK feet for the Tank Mode. But then again, how those cannons get there at all, that’s not explained or shown.

Also, fixed an error in how the T-Rex tail is positioned on the Megazord.

Just thought you guys might want to see this shot of the Megazord. I’m really proud of this.

Standing proud… great work!

And of course, here’s a shot of the Zords together, but separate.

You should be proud Drift! This is fantastic work. The models look great, your rigging/poses look clean, and I cannot wait to see it fully animated!

This is a really intimidating pose and your lighting really sets the feeling of impending doom for the target lol. Nice work

WOW DUDE! Way to freaking go! Bravo indeed! You should be very proud, it looks real good!

I’m just taking a minute here to say, Thank you all for the good reviews of this project! The reception has been very uplifting. I’m glad those of you who know what these are have been excited to see how they’ve been coming along, and those of you who have never seen them before are still supportive regardless. It’s been a wild ride and there is still some distance to go, but it’s still February and I have through December while still being within my self-imposed deadline. I’m way ahead of schedule! Honestly, I thought this would take so much longer than it did!

That being said, being on a constant Go! Go! Go! with a charge of Blender-based energy that wound up getting the Megazord completed 100% in three days past a single month, I think my essence has hit the dreaded burning point. Came a lot later than I expected. But I think with the Megazord done, it registers in my brain as a good point to stop. A work complete. A project started has reached its end. Alas, this means I find it difficult to press on even with easy stuff regarding this project.

Does this mean I’m calling it quits here? Absolutely not! There’ll be FAR more Mighty Morphin goodness to come! Animations, photo shoots, new models like the Power Rangers themselves, The Dragonzord to top off the team, it’s all coming down the pipeline! But what it does mean is that I need a break. And ACTUAL break, not that two-day lull that picks up the moment I get any amount of free time. (Seriously, I said Triceratops would take longer than that took the least amount of time.) Simply put, I just have to recharge and I found the perfect stopping point to do that.

This topic will remain in “Works in Progress”, as once my goals are met, new goals will be made for this crew. So I figured it’d be easier to just continue to put all projects regarding the Power Rangers that I’m doing in this one topic. It’s starting with the Zords, but as I progress to other models and animations, it’ll all be updated here. I consider my Mighty Morphin work to be ongoing, even when the Zords are all completed. The Zords themselves were my 2021 goal, the rest is just icing on the cake.

I will still be using Blender here and there for other projects, but until I get my mojo back, I shouldn’t force myself to do Dragonzord, lest I do a poor job with it and I am not about to let a sub-par Dragonzord leave my workbench. Same regarding the transformation animation. The motions are simple and the animation wouldn’t really be that tricky, but I’m finding myself losing focus almost instantly when I begin the process. I can’t be forcing myself to do that right now. It’ll come, don’t worry. It’ll come. I’m too excited for this chance to let it go. But given I literally have 10 more months? I think I can pause for a while without being under pressure.

So, be on the lookout for the new projects, but I’m officially putting this project on pause for now. However, if you all would like it, if I make cool pictures of the Zords by just playing around with them, I’ll still post them. Photoshoots for fun with finished projects can be good. Also I may be tinkering with the Zords a little. I already re-rigged Megazord on the account of the arm joints and also edited some of the elbow joint a little, as well. Each time I fiddle, the robots get closer to perfection.

Thanks again for all the wonderful support, as it’s been a good thing for my mental health the last month. I really appreciate it!

Dude this is awesome! I hadnt seen a lot of these updates but looking at them…WOW! I am impressed man! Top notch work as everyone else says you should be proud of yourself. Im super proud of you man!

“Each time I fiddle, the robots get closer to perfection”
reminds me of what someone who I’m too lazy to google said “Art is never finished, only abandoned”
