Ship/drone 2D concept made in Inkscape, based on a firefly insect. Used it only as reference and inspiration for main shapes instead of a 1:1 copy. Will be making it in 3D with Blender next, aiming for result like in Guard Jet.
Sweet!! Can’t wait to see this one in an epic space scene showing off all it’s glowing greatness.
Thanks! I did plan a little static/simple flying animation btw, so let’s see how it turns out ![]()
Finished most of the main shapes, also animation on the rune strip/circle (done with Boolean). Might tweak some shapes/parts and adding details, then onto the pattern/texture.
Really like this one and that you based it off of an insect! Super cool!
Le thanks ! ![]()
Pattern/motif on the parts are completed along with some panel lines, done in Inkscape. Might try a bit of simple flight animation on the last week.
Finally, flying animation is done! Had to go back and forth as I found some serious errors (objects colliding, textures glitching, etc.) sot got delayed.
The slow-motion part was actually not in initial plan and only meant as a roll, but rotation was kind of slow I thought of making it a slo-mo, so might be a bit janky (and actually not neccessary at all, as it’s not like it would hit something, lol).
Also now that I see it, it might look like in the water, but actually meant to be in the air, and the ‘orbs’ are basically there to help to show forward movement. Also not in plan initially, but without them it looked like it’s just hovering in place, so thinking about some objects that it fies through it as I didn’t want to add full environment.
- Ortho view (and comparison with the 2D concept)
- Turntable
Alternate version without slow motion, which is basically what I had in mind initially. The wing spread part is a hovering-in-place sequence btw.
Wrote a BTS (behind the scenes) / making of the modeling and animation here :
Very nice Po! This would be cool as an RC drone type thing haha
