The CUT tutorial

I have a problem cutting the sphere.

I don’t know what is causing the distortion around the cut region?

If you continue in the .blend I believe we fix that distortion with a edgesplit modifier But you can try that. Smooth it out and add an edge split

The centre ring planes that go through the middle of the object are whats causing the distortion. Zoom inside the sphere and have a look.

Ah okay after taking an actual look at your .blend I see the issue. Your lattices are too big on the X axis. Select both of them and hit S and X and scale them way down on the X axis
